The Department of Neurosurgery and Neurology with Courses in Psychiatry, Narcology, Medical Psychology, Occupational Diseases of the AR MI of SumDU and the Faculty of Postgraduate Medical Education announce the enrollment for the thematic advanced training course: “Fundamentals of Clinical Practice in Mental Health (mhGAP)”
Total Volume: 78 academic hours Form of Study: Blended (in-person/distance) Dates: from November 3 to November 17, 2025
The advanced training is conducted in accordance with the Order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No. 650 dated April 16, 2025, “On Approval of the Procedure for Certification of Healthcare Workers and Amendments to Certain Orders of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.”
Goal of the Course: To master modern knowledge and practical skills in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of common mental, neurological, and substance use disorders (MNS) using the principles of a personalized approach, multidisciplinary cooperation, and non-pharmacological methods of assistance.
The program includes two educational modules:
- Module 1: Depression, suicide, other important complaints, substance use disorders.
- Module 2: Dementia, epilepsy, psychoses, mental and behavioral disorders in childhood.
Special attention is paid to:
- Developing skills for effective communication with patients.
- Fostering a respectful and empathetic attitude towards individuals with mental disorders, and combating stigma and discrimination.
- Strengthening psychosocial support for patients and their families.
Upon completion of the training, participants are issued a state-recognized certificate with the accreditation of 30 Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points.
