Professor Volodymyr Lychko presents revolutionary discoveries in clinical liquorology at International conference

13.11.2025 – Professor Volodymyr Lychko delivered a high-impact presentation at the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Current Issues in Neurology”

His presentation, titled “Clinical Liquorology in the Era of Neuro-Metabolic Engineering: From Glymphatic Breakthroughs to AI-Driven Therapy,” garnered significant attention from the medical community

Key highlights of the lecture, which open new horizons for Neurology and Neurosurgery:

  1. Clinical Validation of the Glymphatic System: Professor Lychko presented recent (2024) breakthrough data that definitively validated the existence and function of the glymphatic waste clearance system (for substances like beta-amyloid) in living humans. This shifts the focus from pressure regulation to neuro-metabolic clearance of the brain.
  2. Non-Invasive Precision Diagnostics: The presentation covered cutting-edge neuroimaging techniques, specifically DTI-ALPS, as a non-invasive surrogate marker for glymphatic dysfunction, showing potential for differentiating Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (iNPH) from other dementias.
  3. Endovascular Revolution in Surgery: The talk introduced the minimally invasive endovascular shunting (eShunt System), which allows for the treatment of iNPH via venous access (without cranial drilling), demonstrating high efficacy and a significant reduction in complication risks.
  4. AI and Pharmacological CSF Modulation: The professor highlighted the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven systems (like B4C) for non-invasive monitoring of intracranial pressure (ICP), as well as novel pharmacological strategies using GLP-1 agonists (e.g., Semaglutide) that can directly reduce CSF secretion.

Professor Volodymyr Lychko urged colleagues the immediately integrate this knowledge into clinical practice, stressing that the future of neuroscience is inextricably linked to the understanding and control of CSF dynamics
