Specialized Training on Spinal Neurosurgery and Pain Management

On December 21, 2025, a practical skills training workshop titled “Spinal Neurosurgery – Pain Management” was held at the clinical site of the Municipal Non-Profit Enterprise “Central City Clinical Hospital” of the Sumy City Council.

The event was organised by the Department of Neurosurgery and Neurology, in collaboration with Courses in Psychiatry, Narcology, Medical Psychology, and Occupational Diseases at the Academic and Research Medical Institute of Sumy State University, and with the support of practising neurosurgeons from the Central City Clinical Hospital.

The program focused on key aspects of modern spinal care, including:

Advanced diagnostics and treatment of spinal pathologies;

State-of-the-art endoscopic and interventional techniques;

Surgical management of degenerative diseases and their complications;

The essential role of physical rehabilitation in comprehensive patient care.

The workshop featured presentations from renowned neurosurgeons and scientists representing leading medical institutions across Ukraine, including: Valentin Piontkovsky, Andrii Popov, Yurii Babalyan (Kharkiv); Borys Pavlov, Serhii Dybkaliuk (Kyiv); Yurii Lontkovsky (Kamyanets-Podilskyi); Serhii Balan (Ivano-Frankivsk); Dmytro Petrenko (Dnipro); Dmytro Sotnikov, and Artur Krasnenko (Sumy).

A notable contribution was made by Dmytro Sotnikov, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Neurosurgery and Neurology, who presented a report on “Opportunities for Physical Rehabilitation in the Treatment of Chronic Headache”, highlighting innovative recovery strategies.

This event serves as a vital platform for integrating academic research with clinical practice, ensuring the implementation of the highest medical standards in patient care.
