Clinical bases
The clinical bases of the department are the departments of the Regional Clinical Hospital, where the department’s teaching staff constantly carries out medical and consultative work in various areas of neuroscience: neurosurgery, neurology, psychiatry, medical psychology, narcology and occupational diseases.
The department’s cooperation with healthcare institutions is coordinated through the deanery of postgraduate medical education. It is connected with children’s medical and preventive institutions in Sumy, Sumy region and Ukraine. Every year, at the end of the current year, the department staff and the administration of the city’s medical and preventive hospital develop a joint work plan for the following year.
Also, an annual work plan is drawn up for the Scientific and Practical Society of Neurologists and Neurosurgeons, and a mandatory monthly report by the department staff is made on new achievements in diagnosing and preventing diseases of the nervous system.
Main areas of work
– development of local standards of diagnostics and treatment;
– medical-diagnostic and consultative work in the university clinic of Sumy State University, specialized departments and medical-prophylactic institutions of the region;
– implementation of new methods of diagnostics and treatment;
– reading lectures for practising doctors;
– expert assessment of disease histories;
– participation in medical conferences;
– review of fatal disease histories;
– holding medical advisory commissions and pathological-anatomical conferences.
Consulting work
Professors Potapov O. O. and Lychko V. S., Associate Professor Kolenko O. I. conduct clinical rounds and consultations of patients in the neurosurgical, neurological and intensive care departments daily in other departments according to the schedule of clinical rounds of the KNP SOR “Regional Clinical Hospital”.
Professor Mudrenko I. G. conducts clinical rounds in the KNP SOR “Regional Clinical Medical Center for Socially Dangerous Diseases” daily in other departments according to the schedule of clinical rounds.
Associate Professor Sotnikov D. D. is a consultant in the KNP SOR “Regional Clinical Hospital” rehabilitation department.
According to the schedule, all department teachers have the highest medical category and conduct consulting work in the university clinic of Sumy State University.
Analysis of work results
Analysis of medical and diagnostic work is carried out at the department meeting every week with the preparation of the corresponding protocol. The report on medical work is heard by the Council of the Department of Medical Sciences and annually by the Academic Council of the Department of Medical Sciences of Sumy State University.
