APRIL 8 — INTERNATIONAL NEUROSURGERY DAY

Dear Colleagues, Faculty, and Students!

Today, the medical community celebrates the professional holiday of those whose daily work borders on art, requiring ultimate precision and ironclad resilience. On behalf of our Department, we congratulate all neurosurgeons!

Why today?

April 8th was chosen to honor the birthday of Harvey Williams Cushing (1869–1939), the legendary figure known as the “father of modern neurosurgery.” His contributions include:

  • Pioneering Techniques: Cushing was the first to use electrocoagulation in neurosurgery and introduced blood pressure monitoring during operations.
  • Medical Discoveries: He described pituitary tumors and the related syndrome known today as Cushing’s disease.
  • Legacy: Performing over 2,000 brain surgeries, he drastically reduced mortality rates and earned a Pulitzer Prize for his biographical work.

We wish you unwavering scientific curiosity, stable vitals for your patients, and professional fulfillment in every successful case.
