Department of Neurosurgery and Neurology

The assistant of the Department Kmyta Oleksii participated in the EU Erasmus + program. The internship was taking place from April 1st to April 12th and included an introduction to the organization of teaching student discipline at Umeå University, with the involvement of educational and clinical processes at the Clinical Neuroscience in the University Hospital of Umeå.

The department’s lecture, PhD, psychiatrist Iryna Hryhorivna Mudrenko participated in the scientific and practical conference "Together for the improvement of neurological and mental health", which took place on the basis of Zaporizhzhia State Medical University on October 3-4.

The teacher presented to participants the work done by the Department of Neurosurgery and Neurology of the Sumy State University regarding the gender suicidogenesis’ features in patients with dementia.The conference was held under the guidance and with the assistance of the Сhairperson of the NGO "Ukrainian Association of Neurologists, Psychiatrists and Narcologists " by professor, academician of Ukraine AMS Petro Vlasovych Voloshyn.The symposium began with the plenary session.Subsequently, section sessions of neurologists, psychiatrists, narcologists were held on important topics such as: "Modern  treatment’s aspects of neurological diseases", "Neurodegenerative diseases and neuroinfections", "Modern models of the strategy regarding provision of psychiatric care", "Modern problems of providing assistance to patients with dependence", "Medico-psychological consequences of armed conflicts" and many others.

The assistant of the department, Kmyta Oleksii, took an active participation in the seminar "Neurosurgery (Spine)", which held in Salzburg, Austria, from May 26 to June 2.

On January 21, 2017, Oleksandr Oleksandrovych Potapov was awarded with a honorary title of Honoured Doctor of Ukraine by the Decree of the President of Ukraine #10/2017

On November 1, 2016, teaching assistant Oleksii Petrovych Kmyta successfully defended his PhD thesis titled “CLINICAL COURSE OF TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY WITH REGARD TO -675 4G/5G POLYMORPHISM OF PLASMINOGEN ACTIVATOR INHIBITOR-1 GENE” at Academic Council of SI “A. P. Romodanov Institute of Neurosurgery of NAMS of Ukraine” (Kyiv)
